Terms of Service
Last updated: March 10, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to WorldSecurity.io ("Service", "Platform", "we", "us"). WorldSecurity.io is a real-time geopolitical intelligence platform operated by a sole proprietor based in the Netherlands. By accessing or using this Service, you ("User", "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
These Terms are governed by Dutch and European Union law, including the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek) and applicable EU consumer protection regulations.
2. Service Description
WorldSecurity.io provides a curated intelligence dashboard that aggregates, categorizes, and displays geopolitical events in real time. The Service consists of:
- Free tier: Access to the World Intel tab, including the interactive event map and basic event feed.
- Premium subscription ($4.99/month): Access to Tech Intelligence, Finance Intelligence, premium filters, and additional features as they become available.
- Blockchain verification: Event hashes are logged on the Sui blockchain (testnet) for data integrity verification. No personal data is recorded on-chain.
We reserve the right to modify, expand, or discontinue features of the Service at any time, with reasonable notice for changes that materially affect paid subscribers.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use this Service. By subscribing to a paid plan, you confirm that you are legally able to enter into a binding agreement. The free tier does not require account registration.
4. Subscription & Payment
Premium access is available as a monthly subscription at $4.99 USD per month. All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store or have access to your credit card details.
- Automatic renewal: Your subscription renews automatically each month on the anniversary of your signup date. You will be charged the then-current subscription fee.
- Price changes: We will notify you at least 30 days in advance of any price increase. The new price takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle after the notice period.
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Stripe billing portal or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until then.
- Failed payments: If a payment fails, we may retry the charge. After repeated failures, your access may be downgraded to the free tier.
5. Right of Withdrawal (EU Consumer Rights)
Under EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83/EU, implemented in Dutch law as Afdeling 2B, Titel 5, Boek 6 BW), you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases.
However, because WorldSecurity.io is a digital service that begins immediately upon subscription, you acknowledge and agree that:
- The Service starts immediately after payment.
- By completing your purchase, you expressly consent to the immediate delivery of the digital service.
- You acknowledge that you lose your 14-day withdrawal right once the service has been fully provided, or upon giving prior express consent for the service to begin during the withdrawal period.
Notwithstanding the above, we offer a voluntary 7-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the Service for any reason, contact us within 7 days of your initial subscription and we will issue a full refund. This guarantee applies to first-time subscribers only.
6. Refund Policy
- 7-day guarantee: Full refund within 7 days of initial purchase, no questions asked.
- After 7 days: No refunds for the current billing period. You may cancel to prevent future charges.
- Service outages: If the Service is unavailable for an extended period due to our fault, we may offer pro-rated credits at our discretion.
To request a refund, email hello@worldsecurity.io with your payment email address.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service.
- Redistribute premium content to non-subscribers.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
Violation of these terms may result in immediate termination of your account and subscription without refund.
8. Intellectual Property & Open Source
WorldSecurity.io is built on open source software. Key components are based on the koala73/worldmonitor project, licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0).
- Source code for AGPL-covered components is available through our /opensource page, in compliance with the license.
- Curated data, event classifications, editorial selections, and the overall intelligence product are our proprietary work.
- The WorldSecurity.io name, branding, and design are our intellectual property.
9. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
The information provided by WorldSecurity.io is for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute professional advice of any kind — including but not limited to financial, investment, legal, security, or military advice.
- We aggregate data from public sources and present it in a structured format. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information.
- You should not make decisions based solely on information from this Service.
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (such as liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence under Dutch law).
10. Privacy
Your privacy matters to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your information. In summary:
- Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe.
- We use minimal cookies (locale preference, session management).
- No personal data is stored on the blockchain.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Notify active subscribers by email at least 14 days before changes take effect.
- For changes that significantly affect your rights, provide at least 30 days' notice.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with the changes, you may cancel your subscription before the new Terms take effect.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, subject to reasonable notice where practicable. Upon termination:
- Your access to premium features ends at the close of your current billing period (or immediately in case of Terms violation).
- You retain access to the free tier.
- Sections on liability, intellectual property, and governing law survive termination.
13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the use of the Service shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence provide otherwise.
If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform to resolve disputes online. We are committed to finding fair resolutions and encourage you to contact us directly first at hello@worldsecurity.io.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
